Donna Summer: Not the Last Dance
Donna.
Where is she??? According to TMZ, Donna Summer, the “queen of disco” and a 70′s pop icon, died this morning. I’ve been hunting all day. I can usually pick out celebrities and others who gained the whole world, but, alas, lose their soul. But I’ve looked and looked. There’s been a steady stream of startled souls tumbling through my gates today.
But no Donna.
According to TMZ, Donna Summer, who was 63, was a 5-time Grammy winner who shot to superstardom in the ’70s with iconic hits like “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls.”
But it seems she was more than that.
Apparently the rumors were true. According to reports, Ms. Summer “fell into severe depression after the 9/11 attacks on the US, Summer recovered with the help of her faith.”
Her faith???
Well, that sounds bad, but usually the faith of celebrities follows them right to my doorstep.
After all, everyone has faith — the question is faith in whom?
Ha ha ha ha ha.
But according to this same report, Ms. Summer said in 2008:
I went to church and light came back into my soul. That heaviness was gone.
I remember that. I didn’t believe it at the time, but sure enough, Ms. Summer became known as a “born again Christian.”
In fact, according to this report, her family said in a statement:
Early this morning we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith.
Yikes!
Well, I suppose I can stop looking.
Dang.
Lost a good one.

Amazing! You actually managed to devilblog sweetly.
I hope, for your reputation’s sake, that her family does not read your words. They would make them smile.
As devils go, you’re A-OK

don’t despair that mrs. summers soul has gone to the light. from what i can glean, it seems mel gibson ( high blood pressure, heart attack, ect) is getting close to punching his ticket. and if HE goes to heaven…

I hope against the obvious that you are proved wrong. I liked the guy. You’ll see: His Children and his ex-Wife (the Mother of most! of his Children) will come to his aid and perhaps save him from himself.

JMJ~I agree with you. Mel’s going through his own form of suffering once again. He did show a beautifully spiritual side e.g. “The Passion of the Christ”. May he seek and again find the Light of the World. “Where there’s life, there’s hope.” And Donna Summer, rejoice in your eternal reward, and dance on, dear lady! +RIP+

dont get the wrong idea- i like having mel “sugartits” gibson around, as he’s always good for a lark. but he seems close to losing his mind, and if you lose your mind in hollywood, you ain’t gettin that sucker back

Well, I give you the man that raped the underage slut that bore me. I give you the slut as well. Take them.

Wow! If I understand correctly, that must be something to live with. Glad you’re hanging in there. I’ve seen up close and personal just how incredibly difficult that can be.
I wish there were something I could do besides sending my Spirit out to Yours to comfort and encourage you. I don’t have the words…. Perhaps some of the words of the Desiderata will resonate with you:
“Exercise caution in your… affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its shams, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.”
No matter how it happened, you are here. you can be good, you can be happy and loving. You are worthy of love, joy and peace.
YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE, Vengeance. It is now up to you to find the best way to do that. You’ll get there from here.

Vengeance, I am glad your mother (I can’t bring myself to call any woman a slut, even if they act or acted like one) chose life for you. I love what JMJ said, and I agree completely… “No matter how it happened, you are here. you can be good, you can be happy and loving. You are worthy of love, joy and peace.” My heart goes out to you, and your mother who experienced a rape… You are courageous in mentioning such a history in your short comment, and I commend you!
I wish you peace and joy…
