Halloween.
In many parts of the world, my servants, as you no doubt know, today is Halloween. I love Halloween as the one day out of the year in which it is perfectly normal for people to dress and act in ways that please me. Especially those for whom Halloween is a special day of worship.
But do you know what I like best about Halloween?
No, that’s not it.
Let me tell you. I love Halloween because it is the one day I can use to create angst among Christians on earth.
Some, such as a group with the delightful name Demon Busters, forbid any Christian participation in Halloween activities, stating:
No matter what you think of halloween, know that it is the very highest satanic holy day. As a Christian, you should not be observing it in any way, especially IN your church. The catholic church is responsible for this day to be placed in the church.
This person at Christiananswers.net agrees,
The October 31st holiday that we today know as Halloween has strong roots in paganism and is closely connected with worship of the Enemy of this world, Satan. It is a holiday that generally glorifies the dark things of this world, rather than the light of Jesus Christ, The Truth
Is that really the “Christian answer”? Some, such as a Dr. Anderson Rearick, III, writing in Christianity Today, would very eloquently disagree, saying, for example:
And I am reluctant to give up what was one of the highlights of my childhood calendar to the Great Impostor and Chief of Liars [that's moi!] for no reason except that some of his servants claim it as his.
In fact, Dr. Rearick even says that by celebrating Halloween with gusto I [moi!] will flee! He says:
Christians should instead celebrate Halloween with gusto. If we follow the traditional formula of having a good time at his expense, Satan flees.
Now, just to set the record straight, I do not flee from “gusto”. I flee from those who resist me.
But tell me, my friends and servants. Is Halloween a day for Christians to shun? Or is it a day to celebrate with gusto?
Ha ha ha ha ha.
