The Ottoman Empire began at the very end of the 13th century with a series of raids from Turkic warriors known as ghazis led by Osman I son of Ertugrul Ghazi,who  had established a power base in Söğüt (near Bursa, Turkey). Osman and his warriors took advantage of the declining Seljuk dynasty, which was severely weakened by the Mongol invasion.

The Ottoman Empire was founded in Anatolia, the site of modern-day Turkey. Beginning in Sogut (near Bursa, Turkey), the Ottoman dynasty extended its reign early. This led to the fall of the Seljuk dynasty, the former ruler of Anatolia, which was defeated by the Mongols.

Osman Ghazi had a total of 8 sons and 1 daughter. He cut the Byzantine trade routes forcing local rulers to surrender. During his reign, he first married Mil Haton, who gave birth to a son, Orhan Ghazi, who later became the next sultan.

More than the control of Kayi  in Sogut and his accession to the throne after the death of his father, he ruled for 27 years until his death in 1326.
